Description

Morelia bredli — the Centralian or “Bredli” carpet — is the red heart of Australia in snake form: brick-and-rust colouring, crisp cream pattern, and the calmest temperament in the whole carpet complex. Bredli are the carpet python that carpet keepers recommend to friends: hardy to a fault, forgiving of dry conditions, slower and steadier in the hand than any coastal or jungle.

This is a European captive-bred animal feeding reliably on defrosted rodents.

Bredli Care Basics

Bredli come from Central Australian ranges, so keep them drier than other carpets and give a solid day-night temperature swing — they positively thrive on 18–20 °C nights. Red colour deepens with each shed through the first three years. Handling can start young; Bredli rarely go through the defensive juvenile phase other carpets are known for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Bredli really calmer than other carpets?

Consistently, yes — it’s the subspecies we hand to nervous first-time python handlers, and the one that changes their mind.

When does the red colour come in?

Hatchlings are orange-brown; the deep brick red develops progressively to about 3 years. Our photos show the actual animal’s current stage.

Can it live in an arid-style setup?

Yes — Bredli suit naturalistic desert vivaria beautifully, just always with a large water bowl and one humid retreat for shedding.
