Care Basics
Box turtles live at the damp woodland edge: deep moisture-holding substrate to burrow into, leaf litter, a shallow water pan for daily soaking, gentle warmth and dappled UVB. Feed the full omnivore spread — worms, snails, greens, mushroom, some fruit. Shy for the first weeks, then boldly underfoot at feeding time for the next four decades.
